Devon / Re: JENKINS, George
« on: Monday 01 July 13 23:51 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for your info.  My dad came to Canada in 1925 via the Liverpool Sheltering Home (Barnardo's).  He went a farm at Kinburn Ontario (Near Ottawa).  In 1926 George JENKINS came under the BCIA and also went to Kinburn.  My dad (B; 1909 - d: 1980) and George met up in Kinburn and they remain friends and there was a family association up to George death in 2002.   There always some discusion of George's origins in the UK before he came to Canada.  He made several trips in later year to visit a sister in Ireland (I assume northern).  So at present time I have sufficient information on George as I really only wanted to confirm his birth as that was open to discussion in our family.  So thank you for your help, greatly appreciated.

Devon / JENKINS, George

George Jenkins came to Canada on the Minnedosa on the 27 March 1926.   Shipping records indicate hat he was born Plymouth and was age 17 (in 1926).  He was brought to Canada under BICA to do farm work at Kinburn Ontario.  Through his association with my family indicates that he was born in Cornwall and in 1909.  A possible birth in Cornwall Bodmin in 1909 in FREEBMD.  As a youth he was connected to a maritime training vessel, but unsure if that was with the RN or merchant ships.  His tomb stone indicates a birth of 1909 (died in 2002).  The names of his parents are unknown but it is believed his sister (name unknown) lived in Northern Ireland.    There is one relative, also George Jenkins, in Canada, probably in Ontario.   Any help or info greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Canada / Millicent Irene Fulton FOWLER (Nee Downey)
« on: Saturday 24 November 12 20:05 GMT (UK)  »
I have found on voters list for Ontario, a Millicent FOWLER who is a widow.  In 1972 she was living at Windsor Ontario (Walkerville - Riverside Drive East).  Any additional info greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

No information on Ernest and Millicent (Nee Downey) Fowler has been found after 1921.  They last known residence was Qu"Appelle Saskatchewan.

Ernest FOWLER who married Millicent DOWNEY in Winnipeg in July of 1920.  Ernest was from Yorkshire, the son William FOWLER and Emma GRICKS.  He came to Canada in about 1903.  Four other brothers also came to Canada prior to WW1.  They were Frederick, Leonard, George and Wilfred.  Ernest served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1 reaching the rank of RSM.  The other brothers also severed in WW1.  Ernest returned to Canada in 1919 at the end of after WW1 and was followed by Millicent Irene Fulton DOWNEY in July of 1920.
