Scotland / Re: Scotland's 1841 census on Ancestry
« on: Sunday 02 July 06 11:42 BST (UK)  »
i'd just like to add my two bits worth on  1841 census of scotland on ancestry ihave used both ancestry and scotspeople, found both very useful i've also transcribed and checked census for freecen,  but i must say i've had the best result was from Scotspeople, both the new and old site, and its reasonably priced but admittely you can't just go in with knowing what you want to get out of the site.

I have used the site quite a number of times looking for numbers such as scott, and murray ,and had no problem. and with most sites it is being transcribed more than  165 years later from microfilm that isn;t that crash hot, plus you are also dealing with who is emunerator who takes the census and how well they are interpreting the information.

like most people i'm willing to pay to find the information i need, freecen is a great achievement and itwill be a long process if the pay- per-view such as ancestry and scotpeople, keep adding them to their site, as many people who transcribe the census are generally looking for particualar individuals in that census.

thanks

Anglesey Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 census lookup plse lloyd
« on: Friday 24 February 06 21:29 GMT (UK)  »
hi tanya,
thanks for looking up yes not sure if this is the family, so is this at flint or in anglesey.  the catherine i was looking for her age is about right so it could be her she died at anglesey in 1863 abode was holyhead but was buried flint. from a family bible i have a list of children, siblings to a john lloyd whcich is my line i descend from another man looked up census in 1841,1851 1871 but couldn't find them in 1861. i can't be too sure who the catherine lloyd that died in 1863 is . as in the family bible its list her death as 1863, and probably enter in after the fact as it was john lloyd's bible.  He had a sister catherine b 1839 whcih i was thinking could be the catherine lloyd that died in 1863.
