Essex Lookup Requests / Sarah Perry birth c.1814 Fyfield/Beauchamp Roding
« on: Monday 16 March 20 14:05 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to any birth/baptism records for Beauchamp Roding or Fyfield? I am trying to find the parents of Sarah Perry, born c. 1814 according to the 1861 and 1871 censuses. She married firstly James Brown and then Joseph Clark. Her marriage certificates say that her father was called William Perry and her daughters' birth certificates give her maiden name as Perry but we have been unable to locate her birth. We thought her parents were William and Letitia Perry, because she is living almost next door to them in 1861 and 1871. However, they had a daughter six years later, also called Sarah, which seems peculiar and all their other children have christening records. Can anyone help, please?!

William Horn/e married Hannah Beaumont on 15 May 1837 at Copford, Essex. He was also born in Copford in about 1818. I have been unable to find his parents' names which should be on the birth or marriage records.

Can anyone help please?

Many thanks,

Sarah

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Trayton COLLISON - Brighton Birth Lookup
« on: Sunday 31 July 11 22:07 BST (UK)  »
Thanks everyone for your help! You have helped us to start moving further back with this line - finding the family on the 1841 census was great because we had drawn a blank and knowing that the 1825 christening was an adult one has confirmed that we were on the right track. Now we just need to work out who Trayton's father was!

Many thanks,

Sarah and Jenny

Sussex Lookup Requests / Trayton COLLISON - Ninfield Marriage Lookup
« on: Friday 29 July 11 16:18 BST (UK)  »
Trayton Collison married Mary Ann Branchett on 22 February 1829 in Ninfield, Sussex.

Could anyone provide any further details, please? We can follow Mary Ann's line successfully but have drawn a complete blank on Trayton, so are looking for his parents.

Many thanks,

Sarah and Jenny

Thank you for your help. We were able to corroborate this by obtaining their first child's birth certificate, which shows the father was John Marks Hiscock. We have since been to the Chippenham and Swindon Records Office and found his family in the Trowbridge area.

Many thanks,

Sarah and Jenny

Occupation Interests / Jesuit brother
« on: Thursday 05 November 09 19:39 GMT (UK)  »
My great uncle Frank Catt fought in WW1, then joined the Jesuit Brotherhood in France, probably in the Lyon area. He was there until WW2 when they fled from the Gestapo and ended up in a mission in Africa, where he almost certainly died. Can anyone advise as to how we might find out any more about his life with the Jesuits and whether they may hold any accessible records on him?

Thanks,

Sarah and Jenny

US Lookup Requests / Re: Dufour Family - New York Immigration
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 21:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Lisa,

This is absolutely great info - thank you so much for your trouble as it has really helped us fill in some gaps in the Grenville/Dufour family. Sarah Dufour, nee Grenville was the elder sister of our forebear George Grenville. She was also the aunt of the famous portrait painter Reginald Grenville Eves. The National Portrait Gallery in London has a number of his works - we have recently been to see those currently on display.

Thanking you again,

Sarah and Jenny
