Thank you.
This young Ada died. My Ada W born 24 June 1861 “ at sea”. as stated on the relevant censuses 1881/-91 01, 1911.

William’s brother John later went to New York with his family. May not be relevant.

The Common Room / Born at Sea
« on: Sunday 15 August 21 17:26 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for Ada Wilhelmina Hamley born "at sea" 18th June 1861; mother was Martha Hamley (Nee Waters); father is William Hamley.

I have failed to find her in 1871 but she is on all subsequent censuses all stating "born at sea" & 1939 Register; married December 1923 to Albert Weeks; died Sept 1941.

I can find no clue as to where the family were travelling to or why; nor can I find where/when William died; Martha remarried 1877 to Joseph T Chapman.

Summary of my search is to find the ship & it's destination & birth registration also  William's death.

Thank you for any help.

Hi Trish
I'm struggling with TNA: Wills & Probate  - I know I found the Will a few days ago and hoped I'd asked to download it. I've hear nothing (perhaps I just too impatient) and now I can't even locate the Will. Very frustrating!
Thanks again

Thank you. I should have said that I always check GRO for ages; I have searched FindMyPast, Ancestry, The Genealogust, Free BMD, FreeReg; I also ignore deaths post 1847.
George’s son, also George was a Customs Officer in Bristol; his son John (2x great grandfather) was born in Bristol 1827.
I’m like “a dog with a bone”!

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / George HAMLEY
« on: Saturday 02 January 21 16:28 GMT (UK)  »
I am seeking the death of George Hamley; born c. 1756 Tavistock, Devon; (no clear evidence  of birth; possibly even Cornwall) married Ann Rundell also in Tavistock 1784; 6 children all in Tavistock 1785-1799. Ann  died in 1847 'widow of George Hamley Accountant' in Clifton, Gloucestershire. Family links to Clifton & Pip'nJay; also Bedminster, Somerset. There are now many Hamley descendants in Bristol.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my request.

Completed Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Carpenter to Wheelwright

My 3x Great grandfather Thomas Goodrich was a Master Wheelwrightin Rutland 1804. I have now found a marriage to an Elizabeth King in Gaulby 1789 which fits with the birth of a daughter Ann in 1790. He is described as a carpenter; the register of duties paid for apprentices gives him as a Master Carpenter (Northants) in 1790, which is where I believe he was born. Would it have been 'easy' to switch professions from carpenter to wheelwright.
