Wiggy,
It appears that both Elizabeth Blees lived on and had families during the same time.

Elizabeth Blee who married John Hugh in Madron in 1821 died in 1835 (age 37). [modified: fixed dates]
Elizabeth Blee who married Joseph Wood in Germoe in 1817 died in Germoe in Feb 1874 (aged 79).

Thanks for that.  I wasn't aware of the BLEE / BLIGH relationship.  I see that Bligh children in other families became Blees at about the same time so that is a good lead.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Elizabeth BLEE - born Madron abt 1798
« on: Monday 28 February 11 21:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm seeking help on finding information for an Elizabeth Blee believed to born in Madron around 1798.  When I look in the Cornwall OPC there are two Elizabeth Blee who were married around a similar time (one to Joseph Wood in Germoe in 1817 and one to John Hugh in Madron in 1821).

However, when I look at the baptisms in Cornwall OPC there is only one Elizabeth Blee (b 1794 in Germoe to parents Edward Blee and Mary Eade).  Is she the one who married Joseph Wood (given the marriage was in Germoe and there is an Eade as a witness)?

If so, who are the parents of the other Elizabeth Blee who married John Hugh, and was she born in Madron?   She died in 1835 age 37 so that would put her birth around 1798. I have not been able to find anything on her.

If anyone can shed any light it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Greg

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: Robert Bates b. Abt 1780 St. Mary Magdalen

Thankyou Trish and Shirl.  You are fantastic!

Details for parents were just what I was after and the extra child is a revelation too.  Benjamin is certainly a name that has continued on down through the family so it is good to see there was one in the original family.

Greg

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to find more information regarding Robert Bates?  He was born in St. Mary Magdalen about 1780 and died 1843 to 1845.  He married Susan / Susanna who was born about 1780 and died in 1847.  They had four children who were also born in St. Mary Magdalen.
  - Robert Bates (junior) b 1814
  - Mary Bates                b1818
  - James Bates              b1820
  - Rebecca Bates           b1825

Greg

Down / Samuel Edgar & Margaret McWhinney
« on: Monday 06 December 10 04:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I have reached a dead-end with trying to find information on Samuel Edgar and Margaret McWhinney who are buried in the Bangor Abbey Graveyard in Co. Down.

The gravestone inscription reads "EDGAR,  Erected by Samuel Edgar of Bangor in memory of his daughter Jane Edgar, alias Robinson, who died 15th January 1835, aged 21 years.  Also his wife Margaret Edgar alias McWhinney, who died 25th July 1842, aged 52 years.  Also the said Samuel Edgar, who died on the 18th October 1861, aged 79 years."

I have details on their child Robert Edgar and his family who emigrated to Australia but would like to find out more details on Samuel and Margaret and also their daughter Jane who is mentioned on the gravestone.  Robert Edgar was a baker in Main St. Bangor in 1852 and there was a  Samuel Edgar who was a Spirit Dealer in Main St Bangor in 1846 who was most likely the person I am after.

Any information or suggestions greatly appreciated

Regards,
Greg
