Just something to keep in mind as you review options.

With her birth being likely illegitimate, she may have made up a father's name for the marriage register.

A coal miner for father...Richard Pallister was also a coal miner...

Wish she could be found in 1891 to add more background here to her early years.

Hi Kevkev

There is this possible birth for her, some details a little different:

Births 2nd Qrt 1880
ULLERTHORNE    Sarah Ellen  Durham    10a   382

GRO site is playing up for me so can't double check mother's maiden name.
ADDED: Search working now. Birth looks to have been illegitimate. No maiden name showing for the birth of Sarah. Normally this indicates the name registered for the birth was the mother's surname only.

Just some thoughts to consider...

I think her mother might have been an Elizabeth Ullerthorne (Ullathrone). Elizabeth married a Richard Pallister in 4th Qrt 1880 (Durham  10a 501).

Likely entry for them in 1881 with her family:

John Ullathorne 56 tinsmith b. Chatham, Kent
Elizabeth Ullathorne 56 b. Chester Le St, Durham
James Ullathorne 15 son
David Ullathorne 13 son
Alexander Ullathorne 9 Grandson
Francis Ullathorne 3 Grandson
Richard Pallister 28 Son in Law, coal miner b. Bs Auckland, Durham
Elizabeth Pallister 24 b. Sacriston, Durham
Sarah Pallister 11 months b. Framwellgate Moor, Durham

Address 23 Princess St, Durham

Nothing in that death registration implies a military life.

It is only in more recent times that the word pensioner implies almost entirely old age. Previously many ex servicemen were given 'pensions' when they left the army or navy, perhaps because they had been wounded or because they were no longer needed during peacetime.

Maybe by the 1950s, the word pensioner did only refer to old age. I don't know.

Bridget Mary Redmond =
Birth ABT 1873 Kilnamanagh Beg, Wicklow.
Marriage: 12 AUG 1894 Ashford, Wicklow, Ireland.
Death 26/08/1946 Coolnakilly, Wicklow, Ireland.

The corresponding registration would be this one here https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1946/04600/4218893.pdf

I would question if it was the correct entry for Bridget given she is showing on this as the wife of a Pensioner. We don't have anything for Thomas that implies a military life  :-\

Thomas O Brien/Brien =
Birth: April 6 1873 Dunganstown, Wicklow.
Marriage: 12 AUG 1894 Ashford, Wicklow, Ireland.
Death: February 2 1957 Glenealy, Wicklow.

From your details, this would be the corresponding death registration in 1957 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1957/04402/4146211.pdf

I got confused as I have been calling her maggie not margaret .

I think she went with either name. Her shipping manifest entry has her as Maggie too.

Yes, the marriage cert for daughter Margaret certainly helps confirm details.

Found the shipping manifest entry now. The family left Port Glasgow to reside in Brooklyn NY in 1948 on the 'Washington'.

Jeremiah's occupation is showing as Engineer as it did years earlier on his marriage register entry.

Four of their daughters travelled with them on this crossing. Their son John b. 1928 must have joined them there as he died in Florida it seems in 2009.

You can see a more complete list of their children from Margaret's death details posted.
