Good morning,

Thank you for your kind offer of a look up!

I have not bought the MI books - thought I would wait for the Mitchell - but can´t wait!!!

I´m looking for the lair of Robert Mcnaught 1783 - 1851 and his wife Mary Thomson 1787 - ??.

Which part of the world are you coming from?   My fork immigrated with us to S.Africa in the 60´s, and I now live in Germany.

Thanks for your time,

Best wishes,   Eileen

The Common Room / outcome of a trial
« on: Wednesday 22 July 15 11:49 BST (UK)  »
Hello there,

I wonder if there is anyone out there who can help me find out the outcome of a trial?
The lady in question was my 2 x Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Beaumont, born Marr in 1819.   She was put on trial in Edinburgh on 7th July 1853 for culpable homicide.   The indictment papers I ordered from the National Archives, but nobody knows the outcome of the trial.
All I know is that 2 years later she was living in Glasgow with her family and had had another child.
I´ve looked at newspapers for the period, but find nothing.
A real brick wall.

Hope someone out there knows something.

Thanks Ron,

You´re a gem.   I had hoped to make it to Scotland this year, but looks like I´ll have to put it off till next year instead - so frustrating. There is only so much you can do on the internet. Can´t wait to get into the Mitchell library in Glasgow, and the National Archives in Edinburgh.

Best wishes,  Eileen
