Norfolk / Re: Norfolk families heading for Yorkshire - anyone?
« on: Monday 21 February 11 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
My family were agricultural workersin Norfolk and my research showed that the cottage industries, which gave them extra work, started closing down and moving to Nottingham.  They went to Yorkshire Middlesbrough and Guisborough and became Ironstone Miners. Later they moved again to Northumberland where they became coal miners.

I was originally just using credits but when I went to a 6 month sub I got more information. As I actually went through every street in certain villages.  I checked where they were living in 1901 and most had not strayed much from that area.  Frustrating but interesting.  Pat

Thanks Yokel.  That probably is the right Marriage, it depended on how they spoke as to how it was translated.  The accents changed from Norfolk, then to Yorkshire and finally the North East, but we managed to keep the Boon.  Thanks folk.  Pat in Oz

Suffolk / Rumburgh, Suffolk - AUGER
« on: Saturday 24 July 10 05:32 BST (UK)  »
I have found information that could be my relative.  Elizabeth Auger married George Boon approx 1825.  I have an Elizabeth Auger christened 27th May 1798 Rumburgh, Suffolk, Parents William  Auger and wife Elizabeth (Hurt or Hutt), I am trying to find out if possible if this is my Elizabeth and then try and confirm her Marriage to George Boon in Norwich.  Not sure where the best place is to start looking.  They lived in Hethersett but h ave been unable to find anything to date.

Thanks Pat Barnes (nee Boon)
