Hi
for many years I lived in Easterhouse, opposite Gartloch hospital and was involved in the production of a dvd into the history of the hospital after a hoard of original glass plate negatives were found and scanned.
As far as I recall records for the hospital are in the care of Greater Glasgow & clyde Health Trust and held at the Mitchell Library, you can get in touch with them as they may just have something of interest. The hospital wasn't always a 'Mental' facility and was used for recupperation from TB etc. Fairly recently it has been renovated and used as private housing but some of the original buildings are still there.

The Common Room / Re: Brick wall for death certificates

I have a similar problem, albeit in Ayrshire between 1841-1851. Couldn't find death cert and wife registered as 'widow'. Turns out no records available between those years. Something to consider!

Hi
glad you found the map useful. I seem to remember when I was doing the map I asked one of the groundsman the same questions. He wasn't too sure, but thought it just depended 'on the day' sort of thing. I did intend to contact Sharon at the Diocese office, who is extermely helpful, but somehow never got round to it. Maybe now would be a good time.

done very carefully and softly after any grit or residue is rinsed off. (forgot that bit)

Hi
sorry to hear of your problems. I had about 150 old slides I processed myself damaged some years ago by water. I removed the old cardboard mount, steeped the slide for about 30 seconds in slightly luke warm water with a small drop of photography wetting agent, or in emergency small drop of washing up liquid, carefully rubbed the slide between finger tips, rinsed in clear luke warm water, then hung up to dry naturally. I managed to salvage most of the slides using this method. Don't leave the slides in water too long as it softens the emulsion!
ps slide mounts can still be got online

glad to help. Treetotal, I took my guess from Historical Football Kits, lace necks appeared about 1909 then went out about 1930's, so both could be right.
