World War One / Re: Alfred Stocks -Identification of Brigade
« on: Sunday 10 July 16 07:46 BST (UK)  »
He died in 1932, but that was before I was born.
Just found the photo in a suitcase on our recent trip to U.K.  I have never seen a photo of him before so do not want to claim him as my Grandfather if that is not correct. All I have are his Army Battallion and Service Number.

Thanks Val

World War One / Alfred Stocks -Identification of Brigade
« on: Sunday 10 July 16 04:23 BST (UK)  »
Hello There,

This photograph was just found. Is it my Grandad - Alfred Stocks Born 1888?
He served in the Royal Horse and Field Artillery , 1/170th (Howitzer) Brigade from 1915.
Service No L17904. Does his uniform indicate this Brigade?
Many Thanks

Val

Thanks you all for your help. My replies are sent during day time from Australia so apologies for no replies straight away.
There was talk of Elizabeth Barr and Charles being born in Scotland so I will follow that up. Also Elizabeth was supposed to have died about 1872 when Thomas was put into an orphanage.
Annie Maud was their child and died during an epidemic ( do not know when) Not sure about Mary Jane.
The 1961 Census with Elizabeth Robinson has her married to somebody else with a son called Daniel.
Henry Street, Liverpool seems to keep coming up and I need to follow up on Mary Stephenson.
The information that I have been given also mentions Charles as a Ship's Broker and some involvement with a Shipping Company. Members of the Family appear to have come to Australia.
When Thomas was older relatives did write but he did not want to emigrate at that time and the letter was destroyed. So Nobody can follow up .
Once again many thanks for your help it is really appreciated
-Val
