World War One / Re: Another POW Rifle Brigade

Hi Susan,
Will have to try and find the casualty list referred to on the card to see if he was actually wounded, or if it was for sickness. Unfortunately, the 1st Rifle Brigade's war diary is not so personnel friendly but quite good technically, so it has been very difficult to tie down when he actually was wounded or went ill.
All of the material placed on this thread came from a London Auction House some time ago, his medals were included. The only thing missing from the lot was his Silver War Badge which I have been keeping an eye out for on different sites but that could be like looking for a needle in a haystack. To find all this material together is very rare these days hence my interest when it came up for auction as he was a Rifle Brigade soldier.

Hi Sue,
I would love any information on your relation that you might have. As you have correctly stated I am researching WW1 and the Rifle Brigade in particular. Look forward to hearing from you.

Here's his Silver War Badge roll for you, giving date of enlistment, when he was discharged and the badge number.

Seems to be appropriate to leave a message here as well Sandy.

The Great War Forum has been attacked by an I Frame virus from Russia, which has been defined as high risk. Invision are working on this at the present time from California.
The virus has been removed and the latest upgrade will be installed which includes a patch which will prevent this from occuring in the future.

We are hoping that by tonight, with the time differences between California and here, we will have a result.

Hi Sandy,
I surely will, but we are hoping some time tonight as Invision are on Californian time so still have a lot of time to work on it. An I Frame was attached to the site from Russia, this has been removed now and I think we will order an upgrade on the GWF account which has a patch on it to stop such things happening.
Sorry that you got attacked Sandy.

All the best

Just to update people on this. Invision have been called in and are investigating the problem at the moment. Some people seem to have had a problem being attacked by the Malware and others have not, personally I have not had a problem to date.
