Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Ipsley marriage Appleyard/Hemming
« on: Friday 03 April 09 18:01 BST (UK)  »
Aren't the Ipsley parish marriage registers on microfilm at the Worcs record office? I've been able to find similar information from a Birmingham parish register held at the Birmingham record office.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Ipsley marriage Appleyard/Hemming

I should be grateful if anyone is visiting the Worcestershire record office for a lookup of the marriage of Thomas APPLEYARD and Sarah Ann HEMMING, 25th July 1840 at IPSLEY. I would like to know the occupation of Thomas's father and names of witnesses, please.
Many thanks.

Armed Forces / Hussars horse equipment
« on: Wednesday 05 September 07 15:25 BST (UK)  »
My 3X gt grandfather enlisted in the 10th Hussars in 1821. Acording to regimental accounts, he was provided with 'Horse Equipment' in accordnce with a Royal Warrant of 1808, decreeing that the regiment be equipped as Hussars.
Has anyone any idea what this equipment would have been? Its value was £2.6.0, equivalent to nearly £200 in today's money.

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / St. Mary Stockport, Baptism 1826
« on: Tuesday 01 May 07 21:02 BST (UK)  »
I should be very grateful, if anyone who will be visiting the Chester record office, could look up a baptism for me. It is for my 2x gt grandmother Eliz. APPLEYARD, dau. of James & Sarah Appleyard, 7th. May 1826 at St. Mary, Stockport.
The IGI has the name spelled Aupleyard, and it may be misspelled that way also in the parish register. What I need to know, is the occupation of James, the father, if it is recorded in the St. Mary register.
I live in Berkshire, and am unable to get up to Chester. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 census Worcester. GOULD
« on: Saturday 16 September 06 12:25 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for your reply. John Gould was 26 at the 1851 census in Redditch and was living with his brother William, age 24. Both were gardeners. John born Worcester, William, Kinver. Their father's name was James but I have no record of the mother's name. Neither mother nor father were at the address in 1851.
Thanks, also, Ziksby, This is a possibility.

Armed Forces / 19thC cavalry regiments - location
« on: Monday 03 July 06 21:56 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor was in the cavalry at Cahir, Ireland in 1823 and Nottingham in 1827. How can I find out which regiments were at these locations at that time?

I'd be grateful for any help.

Armed Forces / 19th.c cavalry in Ireland
« on: Monday 19 June 06 20:34 BST (UK)  »
I have an ancestor, James Appleyard, who was in Cahir, Tipperary in 1823 and in Nottingham in 1827 for a short time and then in Worcestershire. I assume he was a soldier as he described himself on one occasion as trumpeter and on another as musician (daughter's Christening then wedding) and Cahir had a large cavalry barracks in the early 19th c. This is all I have to go on.
Are there any records, such as discharge papers, etc. in existence for this period?
I'd be grateful for any help.

Robin.
