Midlothian / Help with burial in Leith
« on: Tuesday 15 October 19 20:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I'd like some advice on locating where my G grandmother Victoria May Currie (Drewitt) maiden name, is buried or cremated.

She died on 30th November 1942 at 736 Ferry Road Leith, Edinburgh.
She was 42 was when she died. Born in Camberwell London in 1901.
On her death certificate the district states Haymarket.
I have contacted MortonHall Edinburgh and they unfortunately have no records for her.
I have also contacted some private cemetries within the area too,
Mount Veron, Seafield, Warriston pierhill & Eastern and Dean, still no records of her.
She is proving to be a bit of a mystery!

Struggling to find her!
Is there any where else, I could possibly search?
Surely there has to be some records somewhere!
Is there some chance she could of gone back to London?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Hi
I believe my 2 x Great grand father was one, who lost his life in 1903.
John Currie aged 47 from Leith.
I have emailed the Church in Brightlingsea, I hoping to find out more.
Regards
Nicola

Thank you seaweed for your very helpful advice. He joined in 1918 by the looks of things, so he would only been 17/18 yrs old.
Think he served a good few years, medal card said 1939, so must of served during the war document stated  1st voyage was the Harmonic. Remember my grandmother's saying he was a chief engineer.

Evening everyone,

Im searching for My Great Grandfather served in the Merchant Navy during the second world war.
I've managed to find a medal card online, unfortunately nothing else. Really struggling on the national archives website, finding it difficult to use.
Don't have much information to go on,  no ship name. Only his name & Dob and where he was born. Oh and found a discharge number.
Would appreciate any help

Discharge number 971449

Thank you in advance

Hi everyone,

What can anybody tell about the 1/4 Hampshire Regiment.
I've just received my Grandfathers Service records, he transferred on 19/9/43 to the Hampshires from the Royal Welch Fusiliers. Reported missing North Africa (Italy) O2E/ BNAF on 12/9/43. Then reported prisoner of war in German hands Staglag IVB.

Thanks Guys
