Hi Campbell.

Lovely to hear from another Paine descendant and welcome to Roots Chat! I would love to swap research with you and I would be very excited to see the letter from Charles and Fanny.  I will send you my contact details, but you must first make three posts to Roots Chat.

I have an Ernest Duke Paine b1872, son of Walter who was Duke William's (1830-1868) younger brother.

I'm away this week but hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers, Jane

Hello again Jenny,

I believe William PAINES parents were William Pain 1696-1755 and Ann Weston 1709-1780, married West Tarring 30 March 1725. I have not yet verifed this information which came from another's research.

I was in touch with a couple of other Paine Family researchers a couple of years ago, both here in Australia and in the UK, one of whom lives in Worthing close to where they came from.

Jane
PS: You need to have made 3 posts before you can contact me by PM so we can exchange information.

Hi Jenny,

Welcome to Rootschat! I'm always happy for new information and I would love to share what information I have with you. Which of Duke's children is your ancestor? I haven't looked at this line for a while so I'll have to check how far I got.

Cheers, Jane

Hi there flfl & Nita,

Good to hear from you Nita, as it was your tree I was researching at the time :)

'transcribed' is when someone has tried to decipher handwritten records which are all too often faint and illegible. So 'Susan' may look like 'Javan' or 'Hillard' may be written as Hellard if you don't know who or what you are looking for.

flfl - Was it Nita you have been corresponding with? If not maybe you could share your information with her. But I'll send you my email address just in case.

Cheers,
Jane

Richard and Elizabeth are my ancestors and I have found no evidence that Marion belonged to them. I have baptism dates for all the rest. Their sons Frederick and Henry also ended up in Australia.

PS:  neither she nor her children were mentioned in Richard's will (d 1852), or that of his mother Alice d1831.

Hello again Deb.

Which of Charles and Anne's children are you descended from? I have information on Henry and John William, but not much on Fanny, George or Sophia Ann. I'd love to compare notes on your Parlett research.  I'll pm you my contact details.

Cheers, Jane
