Somerset / Help needed please Birth reg., Henry MURLEY
« on: Tuesday 16 May 17 08:32 BST (UK)  »
Thomas Murley marries a Fanny LUMBERtT / LAMBERT, in Wells district, in 1855.

On the 1861 census they are living in Meare, with them are Henry and Jane.
Henry born c 1854 Meare and Jane c1858.
they are transcribedas, MARLEY.

I can find the birth reg., for Jane, June 1858, wells, mother maiden name Lumber.

Henry, however, is proving more difficult.
I cannot find a birrth reg., for him.

But I have found a possible baptism, in Godney, Father Thomas, Mother Frances, date, 22 Jul 1855
Problem being the surname ... MERLIN.

A search for a Thomas Merlin marriage and a Henry Merlin birth, brings no results.

But, there is a Thomas Merlin in Meare, in 1861, wife Elizabeth, but no son called Henry.
Thank you.

Somerset / Help needed please, Death Sarah MURLEY
« on: Monday 15 May 17 22:29 BST (UK)  »
Sarah Cousins, married Henry MURLEY, in 1878, in Godney.
They had children, in
1878, 1879  ( died ), 1881, 1883, 1885 ( died ), 1886 and a Frank, in 1890

In 1881, they are on the census.
In 1891 Henry is a widower, with 4 of the children, in Godney.

Frank the youngest, born 1890, is in Wells workhouse.
In 1901, Frank is living with Henry, in Godney.

I cannot find a death for Sarah.
Presuming, she died 1890 to 1891.

Thank you.

:-\  Not sure, where to post this.

I am visually impaired and I am now finding I need more assistance, reading the images I find, with my FH research.
Sometimes, it can be a couple of words, others half to a whole page.

I am wondering, if there  is someone interested in helping me, by e mail, please ?

Thank you.

'No Bill' means that the grand jury decided there wasn't enough evidence to proceed to trial.

Junket, did you see reply #4 above, from ancestorsnoop.

Thank you Bookbox, I did see it, but forgot to thank.

I did google, and it was much easier to find, than I thought it would be.

No Bill

A term that the foreman of the Grand Jury writes across the face of a bill of indictment (a document drawn up by a prosecutor that states formal criminal charges against a designated individual) to indicate that the criminal charges alleged therein against a suspect have not been sufficiently supported by the evidence presented before it to warrant his or her criminal prosecution.

When the grand jury agrees that the evidence is sufficient to establish the commission of a crime, it returns an indictment endorsed by the grand jury foreman with the phrase true bill to indicate that the information presented before it is sufficient to justify the trial of the suspect.

thanks again everyone, all help, is much appreciated.

Charlotte 25 Oct 1852 - Larceny, one month.

Frederick 6 Jan 1846 - Larceny, 'No Bill' (I don't know what that means, but others have 'Not guilty' written beside them. He is not the only one with 'No bill'.)

Frederick 31 Dec 1850 - Larceny, 8 months.

thank you so much dublin1850, for all your help, it's much appreciated.

I'll try googling no bill.
Or might be lucky enough, for a rootschatter to have come across this term.

Thank you dublin1850.

I was hoping it was Lester ( I have 4 missing children from Glastonbury with those Christian names ).
FreeCen have CARTER.
The children are the youngest of Isaac Lester,  the criminal you have been helping me with.
