I have a Duncan James Lamond married to Harriet Jane ?, parents of Duncan James Lamond2.
I HAVE Duncan Sr. military records, I am searching information on the family in the area of Ootacamund.
Duncan Sr. retired from the 72nd Highland Reg't (later 78th) to the "Madras Insane Asylum". He was about 56 years old at that time, Harriet (according to family lore) was a nursing sister there. There is a possibility that Duncan Sr. obtained employment there on his retirement from military service. I have the birth registration for Duncan Jr. He married Dorothy Ross of Delhi (an angloindian woman) and had three sons. Two immigrated to Ontario,Canada, one to North Carolina, USA.

Duncan Jr. married Dorothy Ross (born Delhi) and had three sons. Two immigrated to Canada 1960/70 era, the third immigrated to North Carolina in the 1980s.

I am searching Duncan James Lamond, born Argyll 1843, served in Crimea conflict and East India. He married a woman named Hariet Jane (possibly a nurse at Madras Lunatic Asylum) after he retired (in India). They stayed in the OOtacamund area over several generations. I have his military mustering out record and birth registration for his son, also Duncan James Lamond, born Ootacamund. The sons of this man immigrated to Canada and USA in 1960s and 70s.

I am searching a fellow named Duncan James Lamond who served in India and retired from the military there. He was born 1843 in Argyll, signed on 27 December, 1864. He married a woman named Hariett Jane and settled at Ootacamund. The family stayed there for several generations. Between 1960s/70s, the grandsons immigrated to Canada. I have Duncan James military record from the British Library Archives as well as a birth certificate for his son, also Duncan James. The sons of Duncan James Jr. are the fellows who ended up in America.
