Midlothian / Marriage in Edinburgh?
« on: Tuesday 09 December 14 11:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi - I am looking for help to locate the marriage of the Reverend Arthur John Gadd which I believe took place while he was working periodically in Edinburgh (St Paul's Church, York Place and St Vincent's Church, St Stephen St.) between 1900 and 1912. His wife's maiden name was Bowman. Thanks for any help with this

I have (hopefully) uploaded a copy of the article from the Carlisle Journal, 12 June 1863.

Durham Lookup Requests / Re: St. Barnabas Churchyard, Bournmoor Thomas Atkinson

I have a Bournmoor website you might be interested in:
https://sites.google.com/site/allthingsbournmoor/burnmoor---church-matters

I also have the burial records for St Barnabas Burnmoor. Thomas Atkinson was interred 21st May 1889, age 52. His address is given simply as "Chilton Moor." Grave location: C5.3.

The M.I. records indicate several Atkinson headstones but none for Thomas I'm afraid.

Hi Boo - George Alexander Fairless appears in my tree too. He was the brother of Jane Ann Fairless (1885-1967), my g. grandmother. The Christina/Christiana Fairless mentioned by mtoto was one of Jane and George's sisters. I hope this is of interest  :)

Hi Dido - interesting to hear! Matthew Parker (1832) and Jane had four children. I am descended from his son Matthew White Parker (1872) and wife Elizabeth. Which of Matthew's (1832) children are you descended from?

Northumberland / Re: William Graham - Belford look-up please

It has been a while since I posted this question, but I am still looking for the birth/baptism of William Graham in or around Belford c.1799. In all the census returns 1851 to 1881 he clearly states his place of birth as Belford, so I am open to suggestions..? Thank you.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Lemington baptism

Thank you to trish1120 and Doran54 for your replies. This has to be Mary, with parents John and Hannah (or Ann?). The name Floyd is news to me though, this does not appear anywhere else in the family as far as I am aware (so far!). Yes, Mary married William Graham in South Shields St Hilda's in 1828 so that matches nicely.

Any idea what a Fire Teazer is/was? Lemington at that time was known for its glass and iron works so presumably it was a connected trade.

Thanks Stan - two very good replies. I am still surprised that the burial took place here in so far as they couple were married at The Parish Church, Bishopwearmouth which would indicate at least that they were not Roman Catholic.
