Armed Forces / Re: Army photo where, when, regiment?
« on: Monday 02 July 07 22:20 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for reply. Could well be South Africa as he was in Boer War, though where and when don't know. Grandad is the one standing on the far right - name Arthur Freeman, although was christened Arthur Freeman Moss. Not in WW1 as was born in 1868.
I think it's a Bible group of some sort so that would explain the different uniforms. If you look on my first posting on Sunday, you will find a massive picture which I downloaded in my ignorance. You might be able to spot something on that if your PC will allow it.
Thanks for any help.

Armed Forces / Re: Don't open, army photo etc - too big

thanks very much, Bob. Now a bit small as I didn't crop it and wasn't sure how pixel size relates to physical size but certainly a massive help. I have Corel on my PC and find it very difficult to use as I would like.
Thanks again

Apologies to all, as this photo is far too big for anyone to see properly. I am trying to make it smaller and will repost.

Thanks for your help, anyway. We know that Frances Inglis is daughter of Lawrence Inglis and Richmond Gardiner, and have found her husband's name in Lawrence's will but can get no further. Could be she no longer lived in Scotland, then.

Wow! That is excellent. I knew quite a bit about Robert and daughters and Greene Knig from censuses etc. but the last post is really useful. My interest is Joseph, born in 1803. I suspect that he was son of Solomon and Pearl, unless anyone can tell me any different. He ended up in an assylum in Norwich in 1841. Maybe went to pieces after 1835. Will keep persuing this. Thanks a lot.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: LUMSDEN
« on: Thursday 07 June 07 17:36 BST (UK)  »
Thanks very much for swift response. My husband has the marriage certificate - she was living at 19 Well Street,
and George lived at 20 Well Street when they married. We have the Bellamy info after that but can't trace her back. Says father John Lumsden - gardener on cert. Further back in family there is a definite Scottish connection so it is very possible that they came from there. Also, my husband has a Charles on his tree but as her father, but we now realise that this must be hearsay and incorrect, so the Charles could be a connnection, especially as the father is John. Once again, thanks.
