Durham / Re: Henry Orrick and Mary Bates - 1752 Whickham/Swalwell

Thank you - I did not have this!  Fills in a gap and gives me another line to pursue.

Mary Bates is a difficult one...however, if Henry was born around 1722, then maybe the one I have is a possibility...

Durham / Henry Orrick and Mary Bates - 1752 Whickham/Swalwell
« on: Sunday 16 April 23 16:03 BST (UK)  »
Henry Bates of Swalwell was baptised on 12 Apr 1752 in St Mary's church, Whickham, as the illegitimate son of Henry Orrick by Mary Bates.

I am struggling to find anything more about either of the parents.

The best birth I can find for Mary is one in 1721 (Park Gate), although this would make her 31 when her son was born.
No ideas about Henry Orrick.

Is anyone able to find anything more?

Many thanks, in advance.

Thank you for your responses, I really appreciate you taking the time to look for me.

Will have a look through to see what I can find, but think he may be one for the back burner for a while!

Durham / Michael Harrison - Houghton le Spring

Michael Harrison married Mary Potts on 20th April 1731 in Houghton le Spring.  They are both listed as 'of this parish'.

Are there any records of a baptism for Michael?

Many thanks in advance.

Durham / Elizabeth Fullerton - b.1734 - Penshaw?
« on: Friday 14 April 23 22:02 BST (UK)  »
Dear all,

I have Elizabeth Fullerton in my tree, my 6xGt Grandmother, who died on 13th June 1804 and was buried at All Saints, Penshaw.  The burial record states she was 'of Shiney Row' and was 70 years old.

She married John Dixon on 15th May 1758 at the same church - both were 'of this chapelry'.

Is anyone able to find a birth for Elizabeth?

Many thanks in advance!

« on: Monday 10 April 23 14:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Hannah Fairburn married William Wright on 1st December 1814 in Great Ayton.  They were bachelor and spinster and were both of the parish.

Hannah died in Great Ayton in May 1840, aged 56.

Is anyone able to find Hannah's family, prior to marriage?

Many thanks,
Emma

Mysteries, mysteries, mysteries!!  But where would we be without them?!

It's just strange that one was baptised with just the father's name and the other was baptised with both father and mother's name.

I'm wondering...maybe Jabez, father of Jabez 1801, is a nephew of Jabez 1749?  But, still need a marriage to a Sarah.  Needn't have been local, I suppose, but chances are, it would have been! My brain is hurting!!
