Hi Richard
Of course few of us if any will have access to the original records for those you shall have to vist the Oxfordshire County Council archives at Cowley in East Oxford. I doubt they are ope yet - I don't know.
Oxfordshire family History Society have transcribed the PR's and I have the disc they produced in which are the transcription. If it was in the PR it is in the CD such is the quality of their work.
Since then Ancetry have scanned those original records held at Oxford so if you don't have a way to search on there then that may be something to get on to.

The CD for Newnham Murren shows your Richard being baptised on the day you stated - son of Robert a Labourer and his wife Mary both of Mongwell. No sign of a middle name though

It also shows the marriage on the date you state after banns. Robert Goodey of Nenham and Mary Brownjohn . He signed shhe put a (x). Both were of Newnham. The witnesses were Joseph Witmill & Rich Jefferies. This latter chap witnessed several marriages so maybe he was a curate or significant member of the church community.

The PR's for St Mary Magdalene Crowmarch Gifford were lost in a fire in 1819 and Bishops Transcripts were used to re produce those records available in c1953.

Your Robert is in there baptised;
15 Apr 1781 son of Richard Goody & Mary (Benson parish)

Hope this helps in some way

Hi Kloumann
The hyper link failed so I have logged in to SP and down loaded the death cert. Thank you for the prompt

Yes thank you again Don.

The chap I am helping is Hectors Grand son.
He was born 1960 and remembers his Granny but does not recall ever having met nor knew his Grand dad which is why it is thought he was estranged from his family and they now wonder where he was, where he died and where he may be buried  - hence my initiation of this thread.
So your help and that of the others suggests he was still alive when Granny died 6 March 1967 in Dumbarton where she is buried.
This is great progress
Thank you

Were you just listening to my telephone conversation 1/2 hr ago with Hectors Grand son - that's just the question I have asked - he's off looking to see if he has the cert or if we need to get a copy.
I shall let you know

Yes thank you. I asked the Mods to do so in my opening quest on this thread.

Amazing - that's getting closer now. Thank you. I reckon he was in USA when he died and not long before 1970

Hi Shaun
Yes she and her children went there in 1927. She came back here  on 1 Jan 1931 arriving on 11 Jan 1931 at Liverpool. In 1940 she was a widow and back in Michigan living with her daughter Alice and Alice's husband Cazpar Lozon.
Thats one of the principle reasons why we think Hector went back to USA after 1935 (thanks to ev's find today) leaving his family here in the UK.
