hi chris delighted you have access to cheshire parish records, i was in touch with you acouple of weeks ago before i went on hols.
my great grand parents were married in stockport parish church may 29th 1881, i have the cert, mary ellen pickston 22 spinster queen st stockport married james flanagan 30 bachelor, queen st stockport,
father of mary ellen joseph pickson, have not been able to trace him or Mary ellen's birth, on the census of 1881 she is living in queen st domestic sevant, place of birth given as salford.
james's father john deciced on cert, james's mother mary remarried we think a george lester, as on the 1881 census, a month previous to the wedding, james was living with his mother mary lester, at 1 barns court chestergate stockport. it states james was born in stockport. my information from a decieced uncle was james was brought over from ireland by his stepfather a bit confusing, as most of these things are, i suppose he could have been born in stockport and then gone over to ireland with his parents, but there wasn't many people going back to ireland in those days, so that is as far back as i have got with my tree, hope you can help. breda
