Kildare / Naas Baptism
« on: Monday 09 September 13 14:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Does anyone have access to the above baptism records and would be willing to do a look up. I am interested in the baptism of a Patrick Connor (O'Connor) in Naas in about 1780, give or take a year or two. Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
Brian

Hello,
Does anyone have access to the Lifton PRs and/or the Sourton PRs and is prepared to do a look-up. I am interested in the baptism of Thomas Cross in Lifton in about 1808 and a Mary Mills in Sourton in about 1802. Many thanks for any help.

Hello Di,
Many thanks for checking. The Harriet you found may be her although her father is supposedly called John, according to her marriage record - however, if she was illegitimately born to Ann then when she married she may have just made up a father's name to avoid the embarrassment of saying she was illegitimate.
Thanks again. Very kind of you.
Regards,

Somerset Lookup Requests / Veen/Venn of Taunton
« on: Thursday 11 April 13 17:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Harriett VEEN (it may be VENN) married James GILES in St. Mary Magdalene Church on 25th October 1847 and her father is stated as John (according to FreeReg). Based on Census data she was born in about 1818 in Taunton. Does anyone have access to Taunton baptisms for that time and can check for a baptism record. Any help would be appreciated. I cannot find her in the 1841 Census. Many thanks.

Hi Trish,
Many thanks for the reply and the information. I had found the family in the Census and also baptism records. Three things I noticed:
1. James and Thomas were both baptised on the same day in 1819 but in one entry the father is correctly stated as James but in the other (on the next page) is incorrectly stated as Thomas.
2. There is a baptism of an Eliza Ann in 1826 in E. Stour to James, a wheelwright, but the mother is stated as Maria, rather than Harriet. There is a 15 year old Eliza with James and Harriet in 1841, so I assume this is her and that the baptism record got the mother's name wrong.
3. Catharine Fanny was baptised in 1838 but just a few weeks later there is a burial record in the same church of a Catharine Fanny Kiddle, aged 8. So she was born in 1830, perhaps not baptised at the time, but they must have had her baptised in 1838 in the realisation that she was dying.

So the 1826 birth of Eliza Ann and the 1830 birth of Catharine Fanny help to fill the gap you mentioned.
Many thanks agian for your reply and your help. Very kind of you.
Regards,
Brian
