Lanarkshire / Parr - Douglas.
« on: Saturday 08 June 13 21:46 BST (UK)  »
I'm searching for my partners 2nd Great Grandparents Robert Parr and Elizabeth Douglas.
Two years ago I started a thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=516334.0 and was told to get the marriage certificate which I have now got. It confirms that George Griff Parr's parents were indeed Robert Parr and Elizabeth Douglas from Glasgow which leaves me more stumped than before!

I've found no records what so ever for them or their lives in Scotland. I have tried marriage records for the whole of the UK with no luck, I've also tried to find passenger lists for George Griff coming into New Zealand, still with no luck.

Can anyone recommend my next step? I don't have the money to pay anyone (Genealogist, Scotland's People etc). I did try Scotland's People a few years back and found nothing.

All I know of Robert and Elizabeth is that Robert was a Boilermaker in Glasgow.
On George's marriage cert there is no other Parr's written as witnesses or anything like that.

Grrr!

I've just discovered that my 4th Great Grandfather was possibly born in Majorca he then moved to New Zealand in his 20s. How would I go about confirming this? I'd love to find out more but have no idea where to start.

Any suggestions?

Have you any suggestions on how I would find out if Shadrach Peat had anymore children?

Cumberland / Moordaff - Peat

Hi guys,
My brain is about to explode!
Timothy Moordaff and Martha Peat are my 5th Great Grandparents, I don't know much about them except their children's names and dates. Whats really bugging me is there is records for all sorts of Moordaffs and Peats in Cumberland, mainly around Workington, Bridekirk, Cockermouth and Seaton but I haven't found anything to tie them together.

Like this:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=1831-dpw&cid=-1#-1

It has a Shadrach Peat in there, and Martha and Timothy has a son called Shadrach Moordaff (My 4th GGrandpa) So I'm assuming the Shadrach Peat is related to Martha?
It's the same with the Moordaffs too and it's driving me a little bit nutty! I've tried the IGI, findmypast, ancestry etc but still nothing explaining how they're all related.

Think I need some outside knowledge. Any ideas?

Natalya

Possibly, I was thinking that too. It says he was born is Glasgow, Scotland and had been in NZ 20 years before his death. So nothing concrete.
