Hi
Thanks for all the help. Henry married Elizabeth Walker in 1877 at Cogges in Oxfordshire.
His PoB is listed as the Isle of Wight on the 1881 and and 1911 census' but as Cogges/Witney in 1891 and 1901 as you say. There is no record for him in either 1851 or 1871. I agree that the 1861 census of Broad Hill certainly matches but I have no way of knowing if its correct. If it is it would make his father William Woodcock brn abt 1822 and brother of Henry from North Leigh in Oxfordshire, but there is no record of a William Woodcock brn about this time in Oxfordshire on any census after 1841 either - incedently, his father is not listed as deceased on the marriage certificate in 1877.
The info from ancestry.co.uk makes it even more confusing. (Andrew) Henry Woodcock was buried at Cogges in 1934 aged 86 (brn 1848) and his residence was Coventry - this is the correct person as he was formerly a blanket weaver and lived at the address with his daughter Daisy. The only possible explination as to the name change was that Henry's son Andrew, brn 1884 died in the 1st World War and he assumed his name after this. I am now more confused than ever!
