Do you think if I ring LRO that they would be able to tell me if the registers have grave numbers on? Or would they just say I'd have to come and look myself?

Hi Rosie,

Thanks for the help although I'm looking for the actual grave number so that I can locate it in the churchyard. I asked to view the registers at the church but the church warden told me that all records pre-1900 are now at LRO.

I've also tried looking in the churchyard but there are just too many :(

Is anyone making a visit to Lancashire Record Office soon?

If so I would be grateful if someone could look at the burial/grave registers for St Mary, Mellor (Blackburn). It says they are available on microfiche.

The person I'm looking for is John whalley - buried 31 Dec 1884 aged 48.

Any help would be appreciated  :)

I've found a marriage record on IGI but I'm hoping for more information.

Ideally I would like to know Samuel's father.
