Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / Re: EVANS/Llanfihangel-ar-Arth

Again, my sincere thanks for the help you have given in locating places in Llanfihangel-ar-arth.

Again, please accept my grateful thanks for helping me out with the Llanfihangel-ar-arth places.

As I said, I have been unable to move further back in my Evans tree.  The only information that I have was that John Evans was the son of Evan Evans (as shown on his marriage certificate). but, until finding John in the 1871 census, I have been unable to find any record of his birth or his family.  Looking for names like Evan Evans and John Evans makes hunting for that needle in the haystack seem quite simple!! - so I would be more than grateful to receive any advice from anyone who can suggest how I may try to travel back a bit further with this line.

Please forgive me if you receive two thank you notes for your reply......... I pressed something and my message disappeared before I'd finished it

Just in case the first one didn't get through, I'll repeat my message.  I was most grateful for the information about The Vicarage (but regretted that it was an Evan Evans and not a John Evans living there in 1871).  I wonder whether, at the time of his marriage in 1874, John had taken over the position of servant?

Would you by any chance know whether Llaindelyn (where John and his family lived) was the name of a Street, an area or a house?

Once again, many thanks for such a prompt reply.

I am trying to break down my Evans Brickwall.

I would like to find the birth of JOHN EVANS (such an unusual name !!!) in Llanfihangel-ar-arth sometime around 1850.

He was married at the parish church in 1874 and his marriage certificate states that his father was EVAN EVANS.  At the time of his marriage, John was living at "the Vicarage", Llanfihangel-ar-arth.  (Would this have been the house attached to the church, or the name of a farm?) ???

I have been unable to find anything about Evan Evans, and have only been able to trace John in the 1881 and 1891 census, when he, his wife Ann (nee James, born Troedyraur) daughters Sarah & Jane and son JOhn are living at Llaindelyn.

Any help or suggestions would be more than gratefully received.

Thank you. ???
