Thanks so much for the reply. Very helpful. I'm trying to locate the house where the lived LH so that's my reason for posting again.  The hogg connection  makes total sense! Thank you. Might be on to a winner there. I lived in the area myself years ago before I knew the family connection so would love to actually pinpoint the house. Thanks everyone  so much

Hello,
Looking for information on the village of knocktopher. My stringer family were born there. I'm trying to locate exactly where.  Their address is given as only knocktopher  and the father of the house was a land steward. Would this mean they came from the village centre somewhere? Would any one know if there was a stewards house some where  there?  The time line was  from 1850s to 1900. Thank you

Mary Doherty nee Morris, Martin Dohertys wife was from roscommon her parents were Thomas Morris and Mary Callary according to her marriage cert. Going to look more into that side. I've found a marriage for Thomas Morris and honor callery but not for Mary yet.

Yes that's her.  I took a drive down that road today to see if I could spot the graveyard. Would they have gone through a graveyard  to build the road  :'(

Mary Doherty nee Mullins died on19th Feb 1928 and is buried In kilskeagh

Martin and Mary Doherty actually got married out in America!! Amazing! 14 Sept 1898 in Watertown which I think is in Massachusetts

Think I have found Martin's passage America. Looks right. He arrived in New York on the ship named the City of Paris. The ship departed from liverpool and queenstown. It arrived in New York on the 22nd of Feb 1883. He was around 19 years old.

Think I've found the possible 4 brothers names. Martin,  John , Edmund and Patrick all  born between 1864 and 1874
