Hi

Yes of course you are right when you say it was built on the same grounds as the demolished chapel, silly me.

(By the way is it possible to store the signature so it is inserted by the system?)

Not my knowledge, sorry.

Hi

Chester Cathedral is dedicated to St Werburgh but always known as the Cathedral, it is a completly differant church to St Werburgh RC Grosvenor Park Road. Built 1875.

But this means there could not have been a baptism there in 1846 ?

You could send the details to the email address in this link http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/Recordoffice/aboutus/recoffcontact.tm
and ask them to verify which register it comes from, they don't usually make a charge for this kind of search.

You can find a description of all the Chester churches at this link

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Northenden Parish Records
« on: Tuesday 25 September 07 11:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Quote
interesting that Esther was known as Hardy and Price.  Perhaps Price was her maiden name and Hardy her married name?

It looks to me as if Esther was maybe born a Hardy (illegitimate) then her mother married a Price so the family may have been known as the Prices. Or vise-versa  ???
I say this because the marriage index and parish records normally indicate where a person is a widow/widower.

As for James Axon there is nothing at Northenden, plenty in Stockport, but one that stood was this in the parish of Bowden.

18/May/1761 James Axon carpenter of Northenden and Mary Heath of Bowden.

Do you have their children's names ? the girls may be a help in identifying the mum.

Cheshire / Re: Elusive Jane Ellen.

Hi

Would love to help you find the family.

There does not seem to be a family that would match in the 1901 census, so need a bit more info if possible.

How sure are you that the name is spelt right ? You spell the husbands name as Sergison and the wifes name Segreson ?
Do you have any idea of Jane Ellens maiden name ?

It may be an idea if you had the birth certificate of Ellen born West Derby 1st qtr 1905 vol 8b page 469. the name in the index is spelt Sergesson. The certificate will give mothers maiden name and make finding a marriage a lot easier.
