Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 look up please
« on: Friday 12 November 10 23:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I can shed some light on the Bryson/Sym situation . Mary Frances is the widow of William Sym who she married in Poplar in 1845. William was originally from Greenock in Scotland and was a boilermaker by profession. William died some time before 1861. There were several children , notably Andrew, born 1848 in Southampton. Andrew was my greatgreat grandfather. After William died Mary Frances married Peter Bryson (sometimes called Brisbaind or Brisland?).  The Sym family appear to have all been involved in the shipbuilding industry moving from shipbuilding area to shipbuilding area (Greenock, Deptford, Southampton, Hull and Chatham). Peter Bryson is shown as a boilermaker in several Census returns.

Regards
Barry Sym
PS
I can let you have more information on the Sym family if you require it
