Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage CHARLES FLIPPENCE & EMILY WAITE

Thanx also KGarrad. I've just had another look and tried to work out some other names on the page to see if how they read if I start them with "F" and they don't sound so good ;D but I can't tell for sure.
I'm going frantic on searching under Tripance (and variations) and I've just seen on familysearch on 1871 census a Charles Trippence age 20 living with parents (both Trippence) and a lady called Elzth White age 65 and sister to Thomas Trippence (Head of House). Born Melton (maybe Milton, Wilts).
I hope the name Waight and Waite isn't actually White. I wonder how the name was pronounced at that time and what accents people spoke with. Oh no, is this search getting wider? :)

Thanx Ray. I can't tell if it's Tripance or Tupance and here's something else - On Ancestry under search for Charles Tripance marriage it comes up against the Free Marraige Index. When I click to view it, it gives lots of names, one being Emily Ann Waight. When I then click on either of these names, it brings up that individual reecord, but then when I click to see others on page, it is unable to be displayed.

Hi & thanx Silvery. The reason I think Emily is Jasper's mum, is from familysearch, England Births and Christenings, notes Charles and Emily as parents. Given that Emily was on the 1861 census, but not on the 1871 census, I found a death of an Emily Flippence 1865 and kind of assumed this may be the same lady. Plus Eliza didn't show until 1881 census. Her birth is down as 1847 which would mean she would have been about 15 years old if she was Jasper's mum.
Thanx also Ray. I have viewed a copy of the index for Tripance. I thought it may have been transcribed wrongly, but it is definitely handwritten as Tripance. But again, it's too coincidental to rule out I think.

Thanx Silvery, I've just had a look at that. In 1871 Charles Flippence was widowed and then in 1881 he was married again and his new wife (good few years younger than him) was called Eliza. This marriage in 1873 is ten years after Jasper Worthy Flippence was born. I just wonder where are all these trees are getting the name Emily Ann Waite from. Eliza (2nd wife) was born in Chatham Barracks and Emily (1st wife) was down as being born in Milton. Charles and Emily had at least 5 children that I know of and then years later he has three more with his new wife Eliza. I just feel uneasy about ruling Emily Ann Waite out completely.

Hi Nanny Jay and thanks for the reply. I so wish I could contact the tree owners, but I would have to have an annual membership and I can't afford it yet. I have a couple of credits left on the pay as you go system, but it doesn't allow you to contact other members. There are just too many trees with this marriage on it to ignore it really. It's so frustrating.
Thanks also to Ray, for the Tasker info. Your help is really appreciated.

Yes, that's what I thought. But on Ancestry & Genes, the amount of different public member trees that have this marriage as Jasper Worthy Flippence's parents is unreal. They must be able to see something that I can't. I just don't understand it. Thanx for having a look anyway.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Marriage CHARLES FLIPPENCE & EMILY WAITE
« on: Monday 28 May 12 09:16 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to work out the parents of Jasper Worthy Flippence (born 1861 Milton Wiltshire, died 1918 Burbage Wilts). I know his father is Charles Flippence and I know his mother is Emily. I need to know Emily's maiden name however I am unable to find confirmation of their marriage. Charles Flippence is a widow on the 1871 census and I think Emily's death is 1865. Charles is remarried to Eliza by 1881 & Jasper is still living with them. The name EMILY WAITE (or EMILY ANNE WAITE) keeps coming up on other people's trees as being Charles Flippence's wife (married Oct Q 1848 Devizes). However, when I view this record and click to see other people on the page, so I can link the 2 together, the name Charles Flippence isn't there. I'm very confused. Can anyone help me please? :)

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Death AMY C MULLEE Chester, Cheshire

Of course. Martin Mullee put his father down as Martin Mullee on the St Werburgh Marriage record didn't he. Which must mean he is the June born Martin Mullee with his mum being Anne Naughton. I have looked at this before, many times to find out more about his parents that is. The story goes that Martin originally left Ireland with a sister to travel to America. Martin for some reason changed his mind and stayed in Chester and apparently his sister travelled with an aunt to the states. Martin's father, (also Martin) may have married a second time and may have had a son who may have been called John, which according to the very bitty stories may have been the reason that Martin and his sister left the family home in Ireland. I am desperate to find out this part of the story. It's just so difficult (well for me anyways). Thanx loads and loads for your help though, I'm really appreceating it.

I'm too slow at typing :D. You're right about the grave at overleigh cemetery. I found it 2 years ago, by chance. I walked in without any info as to where the grave was. Realised after about 10 mins that I'd got noooo chance of finding it without a grave number and plan etc. Then on my way back to the car, I just glanced left and saw the back of a headstone with the name MULLEE and nothing else on it. Nearly passing out with excitement I went over and looked on the other side only to find, Catherine and Martin and 3 of their daughters all buried in the same grave with dates on the headstone. Doesn't get better than that :). They must have been watching me :D
