Thanks Sarah.   I seemed to have so much trouble trying to get back onto the site after being off for so long that I decided to 'start again '.  Sorry to have made a mess of it!. I've now made a proper note of my password etc, so hopefully will be ok!!

Yes, I am the same person.  I haven't been on here for years and am wondering if there might be a newer poster who might be able to shed some light on this still illusive rellie!   The site seems to have changed quite a bit, hence my lack of competence!

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Information about James Wainford

I am searching for a James Wainford born in Norfolk (Guiltcross?) in c1800.   In 1819 James fathered an illegitimate son on Rebecca Lynes.   (This son took his mother's surname).  Any information about James W, parents, wife, children, job, (Husbandry, I think!) would be very gratefully received. Thank you in advance.

Hi Carol gent.    No you haven't done anything wrong, in fact you are spot on !!  I'm afraid I haven't any knowledge of your 'farmer's , but as you can probably see I've been very successful in my own search, as there are  people on here who have been extremely helpful. Good luck with your research and I hope you run them to earth!
Liz.

No, it doesnt, but at least we know that he was JL's father, and that he definitely  fits into the family tree!  Rebecca ended her days in the workhouse in Swainthorpe, dying there in about 1888 aged 90, poor soul.

A million thankyous for this information.  You are really kind to have taken so much trouble.  I've been searching for this for ages, illegitimacy certainly throws up a lot of problems in more ways than one!!!!  I'm really chuffed with this, and thank you again.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.   I have had confirmatiin that JW was confirmed as JL's father on a list of parents at JL wedding through another contact., and this confirms what I have been looking for.   It now appears tbat JW may well have been in his sixties, and that I have been way off course with regard to his age.  If this is so, then he died in 1837. and presumably that is where young James got his 10 acres from.
I think I'm pretty straight with this.now, and thank you again for your help.
