its a good clue, the suspectd 'father' was a married next door neighbour named Edward Edwards and Davies was the maiden name of Hannahs mother.

I have found the birth on Ancestry so will be sending for the certificate, thank you very much.

Best wishes

Hi everyone,

A bit of a stab in the dark this one.  Joseph Jones is thought to have been an illegitimate son of Hannah Hughes.  The family came from Rhosllanerchrugog near Wrexham but it is thought that Hannah was sent to Ashton in Makerfield to have her child.

Would there be a birth record for him in that area showing his mothers, and possibly, his fathers name?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Barbara, your a secret spy lol,

I have found George on the 1881   employed as a Ships Caulker, thanks for pointing me in that direction, never thought of looking for him by occupation, the other George who it could have been was a tailor, so I think the Caulker is the one, many thanks.

Hi Barbara,

George was born in 1865 in Sunderland and was a Caulker and Cutter on the 1891 and 1901, I have found him there but there are a number of George Wilsons born around that time in Sunderland so I thought the best way to find his fathers name was via his marriage record.  Why cant I find relations with unusual names, would make things so much easier lol.

The 1901 shows that his wifes father was Thomas Stobbs so I know I have her side if the family sorted.

Thanks for your help

Best wishes

Hi all,

Before I think about purchasing a marriage cert for the above I was hoping some kind soul might have the info already, I am looking for the parents of George Wilson and Mary Stobbs.  They married in 1888 in Sunderland.  I think Mary's parents were Thomas and Dorothy Stobbs, but am stuck on George's father, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your replies, I was hoping to find the info without having to purchase the Birth Cert or pay the rediculous price the 1911 are charging.  I saw William and thought he could be the father, William also had a younger brother who could also be the father and then of course Jedremiah could have been illegitimate and be the daughter of Williams sister, who said Family Research was easy lol.

Looks like I'll have to buy the Birth Cert after all lol, thanks for your input.

Best wishes
