Hiya.  I just found the Revelliod's day before yesterday.  I'm researching the Drydens and found that William Dryden married Margaret Revelliod in 1829 (interesting spellings of the name).  I've so far found 3 children - William, Willamina and Martha, but I think there's a fourth - James born around 1840 but I can't find his birth certificate (yet)!  I found James in the 1851 census when the family lived at 43 High Street, Edinburgh.   It's interesting when you say the Revelliod's were Catholic - I hadn't thought of that angle.

William Dryden b.1810 was the son of James Dryden and Janet Dickson and was one of 7 children.  James Dryden is my g.g.g. grandfather.  Isabella (the oldest daughter of William ) was married to Andrew Sinclair  (there's a big query in there - more if you want it!)- (this is the only link I've found so far with the Sinclairs - there may be more.  I'm trying to find a connection with Rosslyn Abbey - haven't found that yet)!  The youngest son of James and Janet was John b.1824 and that's my connection with all of this - he was my g.g. grandfather.

There's also a lot of hairdressers in the family and they appear in the Edinburgh/Leith directories at that time.

Is this info of any use, and do you want more?
Anne

PS: I've just found Anne b1842 and Jane b1835 in the Catholic Registers!

Her husbands name was William Dryden they had 4 children William, Willamina
Martha and John. My ancestors come through John. I think she had a sister named Mary who married some one called Peter. I have a bit of information on the Drydens.   8)

I'm hunting down this line of ancestors at the moment - is anyone still out there and looking for info and can we chat?
