Cheshire Observer 10 February 1883 reports this marriage:
"on the 3rd inst at St Werburgh's Roman Catholic Cathedral Chester, Alexander Ross MRCSL LM to Mary Teresa daughter of the late Captain Charles Chapman of Liverpool and Lincolnshire."
I would love to find out who his father is, and I’m hoping it’s in the church registers, but I’m not local.  If anyone can help I would be most grateful.
Best wishes,
Sheila

I've found a report of the marriage reported in the Hull Packet of Tuesday 17th November 1807:  "Lately, at Sculcoates church, Mr John Chapman of High Kirkby, Lincolnshire to Miss Charlotte Parish, of this place."
I'm hoping there may be other details in the parish records - witnesses, parents, age at marriage, etc etc.  Anything!
Thank You
Sheila

We've just broken down a brick wall ... or at least, removed a brick from it.  Have been looking for years for an Edwin Goddard's birth & parents Thomas & Eliza, when we should have been looking for Edwin (or possibly Edward) Gothard ... he changed the way he spelled his surname between the 1851 & 1861 censuses.
I’ve found reference to a marriage in the IGI, for Eliza Gray to Charles Goddard (or Gothard) in 02 Feb 1832 in Darfield parish, near Hoyland.  I was expecting to find a marriage for Eliza Gray, but to Thomas Goddard or Gothard not Charles.  Would be very grateful if anyone could look it up for me to check the transcription, as I'm not local to Darfield.  Any further info on the entry would also be very valuable if there is any.
Thank you
Sheila

Hi John, thanks for this.  Very interesting.  You may be interested to know why I asked the question?

What we know for sure is that we have a Thomas Crawley born abt 1710-ish (date assumed from the birth of his children & his marriage to Mary Cox).  He was a son of another Thomas Crawley, and was living in Millbrook from at least 1730, when his first daughter Ann was baptised there.  At that point he was married to an Ann (surname unknown, and we've been unable to find that marriage so far - it's definitely not in Millbrook).  His remarriage to Mary Cox (presumably after Ann's death) is in Millbrook in 1733, and then he has several more children with her.  We know all of this because we have seen fiches / films of the actual registers in Bedford archives.

The baptisms of this younger Thomas Crawley & his sister Susannah, estimated to be around about 1700 weren’t in the Millbrook register, so either the register is incomplete or they were born elsewhere.

I'd hypothesised that the older Thomas' wife Elizabeth was Elizabeth Fisher because of the IGI, and some shared research from a GenesReunited contact.  But because of the errors we have found between the IGI & the actual records in the parish registers, I am naturally very suspicious!

What you have found with the Elizabeth Fisher / Robert Rutland marriage in Millbrook is very interesting and would explain why we haven't been able to find a Crawley-Fisher marriage so far.  It wasn't in the Cardington register as had been suggested, or in Millbrook.

It's worth saying that we found no mentions of Crawleys in the Millbrook registers before the 1730s.  So they must have moved into the parish from elsewhere.

I guess the next step is to check the marriage you've found in the IGI in Flitwick with the register / transcript.

Sorry - just re-read this - I was hoping someone might have access to a transcript of the parish register - I got the records I have from the familysearch site, but based on experience checkign familysearch records against transcripts or even the actual registers, I don’t trust it.
But thank you anyway!
