Lancashire / Breakell family in Walton le Dale
« on: Tuesday 23 September 08 14:41 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to track down a missing ancestor who I suspect was born in Walton le Dale, near Preston.  She married William Larraway in 1801 and both her and William worked and died at Walton Factory, Riding's Farm, Samlesbury.  I cannot find her on IGI.  Her name was Isabella (Bella) Breakell. There are loads of Breakells in the area, but few from Walton le Dale.  I have checked all the parish registers in the area but cannot find her baptism (and therefore her parents' names).  There is an Isabella Breakell born in Goosnargh, north of Preston whose father Thomas is said to be from Preston but I can't be sure.

I would be so grateful for any help.

What is your link with Nicholas Traynor?  He was my husband's gg grandfather. James b1875 (son of James) was his grandfather.

Unfortunately, both entries for a death in 1855 of a Charlotte Harrison are for children!  We've tried looking under her maiden name of Teare and also her first married name of Martin but without success!

Lancashire Lookup Requests / harrison, William George and sister Margaret
« on: Thursday 05 October 06 22:28 BST (UK)  »
Am looking for the births/baptisms of William George Harrison born bet 1852 and 1854 (son of Job and Charlotte) and Margaret born bet 1854 and 1856 in West Derby/Liverpool.  She is either the daughter of Charlotte or possibly Job's next wife (Ann Hannah Kent Rogers).

I cannot find a death for Charlotte but her Husband Job remarries in 3rd qtr 1856 and is listed as a widower.  Our thoughts are either she left him and changed her name or he bumped her off and married wife 3 bigamously!!!

Any help would be gratefully received.

Are you in contact with Clare Harrison as I have given her some of this information? Her ancestor is Job Alexander Harrison.

My gt grandma was Mary Eliza Harrison, daughter of Job's 2nd wife Ann Hannah Kent Rogers (m 10/10/1856 at St Michael's Toxteth Park) and sister of Job Alexander.  I have this week been trying to find her grave at St Saviour's in Bamber Bridge, nr Preston.  When she died in 1932, as the result of an accident, she left all her 8 children £132 each so I assumed that she would have had a gravestone!  I also don't know how she ended up where she did, as in the 1881 census she was pregnant and unmarried and living in Bamber Bridge (30 miles north of Liverpool).  Although she married James Snape, my gt grandfather and George's father, 2 mths after his birth, he kept the Harrison name whilst all his siblings had the name of Snape (I was never told why all my grandad's brothers and sisters had the name of Snape whilst I was a Harrison!).

I was thinking of coming down to Denbigh Record Office soon to see if I could find the baptism record for Job in the Gresford area.  On his death cert in 1878, his age is given as 68.  Are you able to look up the local registers to check this?  My father believed that there was an Northern Irish connection in the Harrison family so the Welsh one has been quite a surprise.

I do subscribe to Genes Reunited and am happy to let you see my tree.  I will look for Thomas Harrison and find you.

Best wishes

No.  He was born out of wedlock (his parents married two months later).  His brothers and sisters were therefore all called Snape whilst he had his mother's maiden name.

Trying to find more about my gt gt grandfather Job Harrison born c1810 in Gresford.  He was an engineer and his father was called Thomas (an enginesmith).  He died in 1878 in Liverpool Workhouse and married three times to my knowledge and fathered four living children.

My grandad was called George Harrison and his brothers were William, Henry and Gordon Snape.  All were born in Bamber Bridge, nr Preston, Lancs.  My grandad was 37 when WW1 ended (he was also in the Boer War).  The other brother, James Snape, was in the RAMC.  My brother had thought that grandad joined up at Kimberley Barracks but apparently it wasn't there then so he must have joined up at Fulwood Barracks.

Hope you can help identify regiment grandad was in.  My brother is visiting his only surviving son, Jim, next week and we want to let him have as much of the family tree and history as we can.
