still dabbling .... but no further forward!!
As I posted earlier I have a John LAMB b in Thurnham? in 1807 parents William and Isabella - baptised in St Michaels in Cockerham but have drawn a blank on anything any further back. John had a brother Thomas b 1808 too ....  ..... Interestingly a Bella Parkinson was a witness to a marriage of William Lamb to Deborah Parkinson in 1799 and later in 1809 William Lamb was a witness to the marriage of a Richard Lamb to Bella Parkinson seems the family were very linked .... but makes for confusion for us now!!

Thanks all .... now for the previous generation!!

I know that John Lamb was born in 1807 baptised in Cockerham parents William and Isabella, and he had siblings Thomas 1808 and Mary 1813 but I have hit a brick wall for the parents ......

sounds like an interesting project - the name Dalton figures later in the Lamb story - Rev Ralph J Ward went as a missionary to Injun country - he is mentioned in the history of the infamous Dalton Gang as he officiated at Emmett's wedding ... another fascinating story ...

1841 look up please - John LAMB age 44 (b 1807) ?Glasson or Brows, Lancashire wife Alice/Allie aged 45 (b Healton?)..... John Lamb m Alice Davies in 1828 in St Mary's in Lancaster.  By 1851 they were living in 46 Highgate in Kendal, Westmorland with daughter Isabella 19, son John Davis 14 and James 10 and younger children and the Simpson family.  Mary Simpson aged 22 appears to be daughter nee Lamb.  John's Occupation was Innkeeper but no info on the Inn but there were several in that street inc The Fleece and the New Inn.  As the children were all born in Kendal I am assuming they moved before 1841.  Would be grateful for any information.

Thanks

I have found a marriage for a William and Isabella Johnson on 15/9/1806 which would fit - St Mary's Lancaster ... but Lanc Online not got records for that time.  Then I found a conflicting record on the LDS database for William Lamb and a "....ben" Johnson at same place for 15/8/06 ...

Also another child for William and Isabella - William (!!) b 18/4/1813 and bap at Cockerham 23/3/1813 ....

I also found a 1841 Census record for a William Lamb who was aged 55 .... need to pay to get it and then not sure it would be the same William ... as there were several born around 1786 in the area ...

The Lambs do like their Williams and Johns ..... !!

What is your interest in Thurnham then?

My family branch went north to Kendal by 1851

Thanks for looking

This was the source for Thurnham reference:

Baptisms: 8 Mar 1807 St Michael, Cockerham, Lancashire, England
John Lamb - Son of William Lamb & Isabella
Born: 10 Feb 1807
Abode: Thurnham
Register: Baptisms 1793 - 1812, Page 42, Entry 19
Source: LDS Film 1278859

A couple of the same name had a son Thomas also baptised their and their abode was Glasson.

A 1871 census for John Lamb indicated Glamorgan as place of birth but the original writing looks like Glasson Dock ....

Looks like I have to dig a bit deeper ..... someone else has him as being born in Brow ... he was registered in Kendal ...
