Library and FHS Lookups / Re: St Clare's Convent Pantasaph Holywell
« on: Friday 08 June 12 11:47 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I am a member of staff at Flintshire Record Office and would like to state that we DO NOT hold the records for the Pantasaph Orphanage. We have had many enquiries about records of the former orphanage, particularly in the last few months due to the incorrect information on this forum. We have been told by the Roman Catholic Archivist at Wrexham to refer people directly to the order who originally ran the convent. Their address is:
Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of Mercy, The Archivist, Bethany, 4 Mount Street, Preston, PR1 8BS. However, we do hold some records of the school attached to the Convent, which was Pantasaph Roman Catholic School.

Many Thanks

The staff at Flintshire Record Office

Cardiganshire / Stealey/Staley family

Hello,

I'm interested in the above family name. I believe an Isaac Stealey moved down to the Cardiganshire area in the 1820s or 1830s from Flintshire. I am descended from the Flintshire Stealeys and have just started researching the ones that got away!

Cheers

James

Hi everyone,

I've just started researching the above family and have traced my line of the family back to 1795, however I wondered whether anyone on here has a family tree that I can compare with my own as I'm a bit confused about some of the relationships on my own!

Cheers

James

Derbyshire / John Staley/Staveley/Stealey of Castleton

Hi everyone,

My first post on here and I'm after some information on a John Staley born c.1700 in Castleton, Derbyshire. He migrated to Halkyn, Flintshire when new lead deposits were discovered in the 1720s. He is my 8x Great grandfather and also 7x Great grandfather as I'm descended from 2 lines of Stealeys/Staleys in the Flintshire area.

Thanks

James

P.S. Merry Xmas to all!  :)
