I'm trying to locate information on my grandmother's half-sister, Rosina Catharina Betz, born
2 Sept 1885 in Schwabisch Hall, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.  Rosina died 16 Feb 1956 in Frankfurt. Her father was Bernard Betz and her mother was Magdalene Barbara Hagel. She also had a brother Carl Betz, born 1899 and who died 1964 in Freiburg.  Please contact me if you have any information.  Thank you.

Hi, Thanks so much for that translation.  Would you care to try another page?

Europe / Germany - translation help

I've received a copy of the family Bible for my maternal grandmother, but it's written in German [cursive] and I'm unable to translate, even with the translation programs out there. I've attached one page here and would appreciate any translation help that can be offered.  Thanks.

Armed Forces / Dudhope Castle Dundee 50th Foot Regiment

Hello,
My great-grandfather, William Wood, was stationed at Dudhope Castle in 1878 & 1879.  Can anyone give me guidance on how to access information on the soldiers who were stationed at Dudhope at that time?  I'm trying to confirm his service number to see if information that I have obtained from another source belongs to my William Wood.  Thanks for any help offered.

Yes, I've culled Find My Past and have come up with 26 solders named William Wood, Private.  I found one who resigned from the 50th of Foot in 1879 who I suspect MAY be my great-grandfather. My problem is that he was born in 1840 and my William's marriage registration said he was born in 1843. The records of this William do not reflect that he was stationed in Dudee, although his release was signed off on in Edinburgh.  If I could locate documents listing the service number of the military personnel in Dudhope Castle in 1878 / 1879 I would feel more comfortable about the age disparity.
I've even tried to track down if the 50th of Foot was stationed in different locations in Scotland or just in Dundee during 1878 / 1879 but haven't been able to find anything. I'm assuming that they were becasue his release papers were signed in Edinburgh.

Hi Mo,

Thanks for responding to my post.
I have six pages of military information on this same guy that I pulled off findmypast.com. He even retired from the service within 3 months of my William's marriage, but the military paperwork states that he was returning to Manchester & there's no reference to a marriage.  I was thinking [actually hoping] he lied about his age to get in to the army. If it weren't for the age discrepancy I would say definitely yes, this is my William.
