Thanks Emma - I'm going to keep an eye on your site.  There are quite a few people that I'm interested in, a few too many to ask you to check, but if you did come across any mention of the surname 'Tear' or 'Weatherson/Weatherston' I would be grateful of any information.

Thanks

Anya

yes again!  Looking at my tree on ancestry I suspected her parents as a Richard and Mary (can't remember why now but will review it!) This looks like it could be the right christening for her.

Thanks!

Hi again

Anya says

Quote
His death certificate describes him as a widower of Isabella Robinson (supposed to be Robertson I think) again leading me to believe he didn't re marry and therefore preventing me from finding out his parents names

But his parents are listed on the death cert as

Thomas Weatherston, carter and Margaret m.s. Scott

These fit  with your 1841, Monica

:o yes! You're right! Think my head was so muddled last night searching through the records and all the possible variations I didn't look properly at his death!

Thank you!

Thanks for all the help everyone! Yes found that 1841 census- just wasn't totally sure as i hadn't found any baptism. Records may not even exist and it maybe will be a case of assumption as the info fits.  I've got lots to explore. I suspected his parents were a Thomas and Margaret but really wasn't sure. I'm going to have a look on the family search website as the info posted also seems interesting.

If the 1841 census info I have is correct I believe he had siblings Andrew, John and Sarah all born in England. I'm going to look more closely at those to see if u can find anything from them.

Thanks again everyone!

England / Lived in scotland, born in England but where? Help!

Hello

I have traced my family back to Thomas Weatherson/Weatherson b1816 living in Coldstream.  The scottish census entries for Thomas show that he was born in England.  I can only find him in scotland from 1841 and he died there in 1886.  He married in 1848 so just a few years before the start statutory registration which is frustrating as I could have possibly found out his parents names from there!

His wife died in 1854, he appears as a widower on all census' after that and I can't find him marrying again.  His death certificate describes him as a widower of Isabella Robinson (supposed to be Robertson I think) again leading me to believe he didn't re marry and therefore preventing me from finding out his parents names!

As he was born in 1816, therefore pre 1837 registration in England am I right in thinking that it won't be easy to trace where in England he was born?

Have I reached a unbreakable brick wall?

Thanks

Anya
Does anyone have any idea how I might go about trying to find out

Oh, by the way, it's the coldstream area I'm interested in - I don't know if it was up to the parish what they recorded and in my case they may not have recorded cause of death or if there is another place I should be looking for cause of death in my coldstream ancestors pre 1855!

Ta!

Hello

Sorry if this has been asked before but for Scotland deaths pre 1855, is there any way I can find out a cause of death?  I have found a few parish burial records for some of my ancestors but I can't seem to find out their cause of death pre 1855.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
