Nottinghamshire / Birth/Baptism Records
« on: Sunday 28 April 24 13:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Can anyone advise me as to where I might find parish birth/baptism records for the county of Nottinghamshire. This would be for c1880, and this particular birth appears to be unrecorded on the usual websites.
                       Many thanks

The Common Room / Betting shops in Liverpool

Hello,
Does anyone remember the name of a string of betting shops in Liverpool. This would be around the sixties or seventies. They may have been bought out by the big two; William Hill and Ladbrokes, or possibly Joe Coral.
                                 Many Thanks

Thank you Little Nell. That makes a lot more sense than 'Gunner', which I believe is often shortened to  Gnr or similar.

Hello,
Do the letters KGN after a soldiers name signify that he was a gunner in the Kings Liverpool Regiment? All help and advice much appreciated.

Thank you Sandra for the info. I'm still working on this case; the chances of my finding what I'm looking for is remote, but I'll keep digging.

World War One / Leave
« on: Saturday 01 April 23 09:39 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Does anyone know how often soldiers were granted leave during WW1? Also, did it differ between soldiers who were stationed in the U.K. and those who were serving overseas?
                  Many Thanks

Canada / Leonard Watts

Hello,
in 1920, Edith Bentham sailed from England to Canada. I believe her intention was to marry Leonard Watts, in British Columbia. I'd like to discover whether this union ever took place. Any information would be gratefully received.
                        Many thanks
