Thank you much -- that really helps me understand the process.  I appreciate your patience.

Thanks to both of you (avm 28 and keyboard 86)  --- yes Dec 1911 is still a viable date if the census was April.  Thanks much because I couldn't find a date on the copy of the paper I was looking at.  Its a shame that these household documents didn't survive -- they are so informative.

So my question, then, is whether or not I am correct in making the assumption that the 1931 death record is appropriately listed for the son Thomas Frederick Maguire --- and I'm still in search of the father by the same name?

Since his (Thomas Frederick) wife's death preceded his, would it have been one of his children that provided the name at the time of death, or would there have been some formal document that indicated the name he was using at the time?

In searching for more info on the Maguire line, I continued search for Thomas Frederick Greenwich Maguire, who is listed as the father of Thomas Frederick Maguire.  The "son" was born around 1858 but I have no info on the father at this point.  In searching, I found a death record for Thomas F. G. Maguire in Apr - Jun 1931 records with a birth date estimated at 1858.  Would the father and son have the same name without using a suffix of Senior or Junior on their names?

This doesn't appear to be a "normal" census because it's only for the Wright family and its signed by Thomas Henry Wright who is the head of the household, and certified by an "enumerator".  Its not dated, so I can't tell what time of year it was done.  The top of the document says "Census of England and Wales, 1911".

Hi again, and Richard G Maguire, appears to marry the same woman twice?

Richard G Maguire to (On same page) Elizabeth B Wright) Dec 1911 Islington 1b 622

Richard G Maguire to Elizabeth B Wright Dec 1914 Romford 4a 1094

Keyboard86

Found a 1911 census that shows Rchard G Maguire as a single boarder in a "home" owned by Thomas Henry Wright that also has an Elizabeth Blanche Wright (single) living there.  I'm guessing from this that the 1914 date must be the correct one.

Thanks for the info.

You guys are great.  Is there any way to find information on Thomas Frederick Greenwich Maguire.  I have him as the husband of Eliza and the father of Thomas Frederick Maguire, but he didn't appear in the 1861 census you provided, though it does state that Eliza is married and not widowed.  The census also mentions a 12 year old daughter, but shows she was born in the East Indies.

In the 1881 census, Thomas is listed as a "nephew".  Can I make the assumption that Charles Neville is his uncle and that maybe Eliza's maiden name is Neville?

Thanks again for all the information you all are supplying.  I am so excited about getting it.

Keyboard 86 --- I can't thank you enough.

I just got home from work and am overwhelmed with the response.  Thank you so much.  The 1901 census has my granmother listed --- Irene A (Alice) at age 3.  Her actual birth date was 27 May 1897.  I noticed that there is an Arthur in the 1891 census, but not in the 1901 census.  I'm assuming he passed sometime between the two dates.  I had no idea my grandmother had these siblings.  This is so terrific.

I see her father was living with his uncle(?) in 1881.

The 1861 census has me a little confused I'm afraid.  It appears he was 2 here and had a sister that was 10 years older and born in the East Indies(?).  I'm guessing that Eliza would be his mother, and she's listed as married, but there doesn't appear to be a father on the census.

I'm hoping to find information on Thomas' father.  I remember seeing a marriage document of Irene's that listed the witness as Thomas Frederick Greenwich Maguire but I don't have any more info than that so I don't know if that's her father or grandfather.  Marriage date is 30 Jul 1919 at Parish of St Mary's, Ilford, Esses.
