Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Re: Ferndale Burials 1900
« on: Sunday 13 November 05 19:57 GMT (UK)  »
Much appreciated info. We were led to believe that there were twin brothers who may be buried here. Mildred Edwards has completely baffled us as we are not aware of any Edwards in the family, unless she is the granddaughter of one of Sarah's sons

Seeking info. on Sarah BISHOP died 21st October, 1900 who I believe is buried at Ferndale Cemetery.  Also looking for other family members who may be buried with her.   Believe these members to be her grandchildren.   Also looking for Henry WILLIAMS who was Sarah's first husband.   He died at Cymmer, Llantrisant  24th October, 1872 but not sure of his burial place.

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Re: Census names information

Thanks for the info. Lavinia Snr.'s maiden name was Williams. She was born sometime during 1866 at Old Tredegar,Mon. But to date cannot find a birth cert. Some confusion on the 1881 census as she shows up as being Elvina Bishop of Tylors Huts. We know that her mother eventually married George Bishop who is with them on the 1881 census and that all the christian names of the family and birth details are right. Why they have mistakingly been called Bishops  is anyone's guess? By 1891 census all the family reside at 16 Edmund St and the childrens names have been correctly recorded as Williams.

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Census names information
« on: Saturday 23 July 05 12:37 BST (UK)  »
Have finally tracked my great grandmother's (Lavinia Groves) resting place to Ferndale cemetry. Unfortunately the name on the gravestone gave a middle name I was not aware she had-Rosina.
I knew she had named her daughter with the title Lavinia Rosina.and she too rests in the same plot. In the census of 1881,1891 and 1901 did they ask for middle names. I as yet can't find her birth certificate, although it is obvious in the 1891 census her daughter's name is given in full, while hers is not.

Thanks for the reply, but the ages of husband and wife should be definitely reversed. So I must assume these are the wrong people.

Can somebody please look up the whereabouts of a John (28), Mary (33) and Margaret (1) Lloyd. Possibly residing in the Loughor area of Glam. In the 1851 census he is described as a calciner workman living near Waun!?

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / 1875-Birth registration?
« on: Friday 15 July 05 20:50 BST (UK)  »
On a recent request for a birth certificate I was informed that although registration came into being in 1837, it was not compulsory to register a childs birth until after 1875. Can anyone verify whether  this is correct?

Thanks for the info, but sometimes there are odd numbers to the page and in some cases have found only one. My dilemma remains.
