I'm sorry if I upset you Elaine, I am only telling you what has been told to me. I have only my grandfather's story to go by, and he went to work at age 12 to help support his family after his parents split up. It's obvious that you were well looked after and have fond memories of Leslie, my family have none of those. Its a pity that he lost contact with his children. I know very little of the Mabb family, though I do know that there were an awful lot of them. Mabel was the eldest of something like 10 children, so there will be plenty of them around still. I understand some of them were around Mt Isa, I think possibly a brother, but I'm not sure. I've only just started to look into this side of my family history and thought I had hit a brick wall when I was told that the St Clair name was made up. There's a mystery here.

Hi Everyone, Leslie Norman St Clair was my great grandfather. My grandfather, Norman, was his first child with Mabel Mabb (he was adopted), and he had 2 sisters, Phyllis and Sylvia. The story in our family is that Leslie's mother's name was Claire, and that she and his father weren't married, and that she made up the name of St Clair for her son. Just to make things more interesting - my grandfather and his family used to go to visit the Hardings fairly regularly as children (which they hated), so this would suggest that maybe Michael Harding is Leslie's father. He seems to have had an interesting life, as Mabel divorced him for being a drunk. He must have reformed his life to go on and have more children. I know my grandfather knew nothing of other siblings, and I don't think he ever saw him again after his parents split up. This is all very interesting to me as there is very little known about this family at all. Anything else you can find would be a great help to me as well.
