Kildare / Re: William Kavanagh and Kate Moran, Athy

There are records that show that both William and Kate were born in 1868 in the Athy area, William’s baptism was in St Michaels R.C. Parish Church in the town, I could not find Kate’s baptismal record which means that she was baptised in one of the outlying parishes, as she is listed on the civil index records for the Athy area in 1868. Also they didn’t marry in the town, which again suggests that in 1898 when they married, it was in her parish. They were living outside the town in Salisbury in 1911 and from the census we can assume they were in Scotland for a period after they got married as their daughter Janie was born there. William died on the 12/10/1932 aged 62 or 65 address given as Meeting Lane in the town and Kate died on the 23/10/1963 aged 95 address given as St.Josephs Terrace in the town and both were interned  in old St. Michaels Cemetery in Athy.

Contact the Environmental department of Kildare County Council, if cemetery is under their care they should have the records which may include the name of the person who purchased the burial plots originally. If they do not have the records you will have to find the local register for the cemetery and they might have the records. Not all cemetery records are intact and many records only go back to the 1940's.

Kildare / Re: Mount Offaly

Mount Offaly is section of the town on the Carlow road in Athy, it runs from COI parish church and Mount Offaly house up to Axa insurance offices on the Road. Its quite possible she was working for Dr.James Kilbride who I know lived in the area in that period not to sure if he lived in Mount Offaly house, as for the O'Neills as far as I know only acquired properties in the area after his death.
