Hello, my grandmothers name was Irene Hannam nee' Porter.
She lived in New Zealand, born in Whangarei, settled in New Plymouth, Taranaki.
I had to do abit of a double take when I found the letters, seeming they were from Irene Porter to Irene Porter  :)

Hello, I will go through the letters I have from Irene Porter to my Grandmother, I know they mention I rene's boyfriend, the area he lived in which is an amusing story about how it's a long way to travel on the back of a motorcycle for her!!
It also mentions a date they have set for a wedding, will get back to you with the details,

Thanks again, Brent

Family Bibles / Looking after an old Bible???
« on: Saturday 16 July 05 02:02 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,
I have a signed, old bible from that belonged to my great, great, great Uncle and then his son, then my Great Grandmother and then her daughter.
It came to New Zealand from England in 1885.
It has seen better days but obviously I want to look after it, can anyone suggest any websites that specialise in this type of thing, I have many other old family letters from the 1800's that need proper care also.
As an example, my dear old Grandmother had two photos of my Grt, grt, grt, grt Grand parents under her bed in no protective sheet or anything, not even in frames, got to love Grandmothers!!!
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Brent

Hello, just wondering if you are on the Porter line to a Thomas Porter who settled up in Maungakaramea, Whangarei, NZ. He built a little house in the 1860's in Parua Bay, it still stands today. The family was mainly based in Whangarei but did spread out to places like New Plymouth (Irene Hannam, nee Porter)
Was a large family so many, many branches.
Cheers,
Brent
