Wow, sorry about that :-[ it turns out the age given in the above image was wrong, she was 'only' 102 at that point.

Thanks for the update.

Interesting, there was a Dublin woman who turned 106 in February so I think May Duggan could have been the 2nd oldest in the country. Thanks for that.

Thanks for that, I would be grateful if you could also find her exact birthdate so we could clarify if she was Ireland's oldest resident at the time.

Thanks again.

Ahh so the plot thickens, the truth was known at the time the reports were published e.g this clip below and the one I've already posted. Well thanks for clearing it up anyway, 108 would have been a remarkable age for 1985...

my previous reply got garbled so had to redo it... o I see, that's why you knew the Kelly story... well it looks like Mary Collender will have to be removed from the list of Ireland's oldest people.

woww that's a mine of information, thanks a lot. So you're saying the 'real' Mary Collender was only 104, not 108... This looks like her in the '01 census, with the right age and the right parents:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Waterford/Dromore/Dromore/1772551/

and here in '11, albeit 2 years young:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Waterford/Dromore/Dromore/664791/

... where it states there were actually 15 children of whom 12 survived. Of course that explains why there was no maiden 33yo Mary Barron in 1911... I reckon only a close relative would know that ancient story about her grand-uncle so you might also be able to tell us if it she got the Centenarian bounty in 1977 ;D

Are you sure that she has died?

Yes, unless the age reported is wrong

Ah, so a few people in Donegal don't know their geography :)

Ha looks like I've been rumbled ;) But I've contacted various people in Donegal, they've never even heard of Creeve, maybe it should be 'Creevy'...
