US Lookup Requests / John Farrell

My gggrandfather was John farrell b. 1827, in Ireland.  He was married to a Mary Doyle b.1830, in Ireland.   They arrived @ 1850 in the US.  First son's name is Peter, b. 1854, in New York state. Patrick b.1857 in Pennsylvania. This is all the information I have.  There is no family history.  I did find a John Farrell in the 1850 census, Abington twp., Luzerne, Pa.  this is the area where the family did settle.  John farrell was not found with his family after 1850.  His wife and sons are in the 1860 census, Scranton, Luzerne, pa.   Please help!!!!
