Am tempted to call at the Carnan Street adddress on the off-chance but maybe posting the details above would be better.

Strangely, although the links that you provided point to Roselawn, I cannot find entry for Albert Hamilton Baxter on the online BCC Burial Records.

Thanks for the line of enquiry.

Already have topic on Belfast Forum and a friend is going to distribute an article to her newspaper contacts, so hopefully something in the press over the next few weeks.

I visited the Baxter grave to take photograph and noticed that it is well tended - I intend to return with a laminated sheet with pictures of the badge, his MIC and SWB Register entry and contact details.  His widow died early in April 1960, so relatives may be visiting the grave this April.

Sapper Albert Edward Baxter (57649, 121st Field Company, Royal Engineers)

A member of the Limerick Branch of the Royal British Legion recently purchased a Silver War Badge that had been issued to a Belfast man when he was discharged from the Army in 1917 due to illness - the Silver War Badge was issued to prevent men who had "done their bit" being treated as "shirkers".

Whilst this is principally an appeal for relatives of Albert Edward Baxter, any additional information would be welcome  :)

Hello

I am fairly new to the Rootschat forum.

I am involved in a project to create a photographic archive of the headstones for all World War One and World War Two fatalities that are recorded on Commonwealth War Graves Commission as being buried in Ulster (nine counties).  This archive may, subject to funding, become a book but will be an online facility at the very least - the information accompanying the headstone will be that which is recorded on the CWGC database.  We would also be interested in photographs of family headstones memorialising WW1/WW2 fatalities buried or commemorated elsewhere.

As there are 2851 graves in 481 cemeteries or graveyards in Ulster (excluding Foreign Nationals [e.g. Polish, Norwegian, Dutch, etc.], "unknown" sailors/airmen and family memorial to those buried/commemorated elsewhere), it is a fairly ambitious project and is reliant on local people taking photographs of headstones in local gravestones.

To this end, I am hoping that members of this online community would be willing to assist in the project - each person will be acknowledged by name and/or group.  Each participant will be supplied with the relevant fatality records for the cemeteries/graveyards that they volunteer to cover.

Anyone interested in helping can contact me through the RootChat personal message facility.

Thanks

Hi

Does anyone know where one can buy old BSD?  I am familiar with Mary Lennon's site but I am particularly interested in 1914.  Does anyone know if there is an ebook or online version of the 1914 BSD?

Thanks

Ellen

I hope that you are still monitoring this topic.

I am researching Belfast Presbyterians in the Great War and there are three McConnell brothers (James Kerr, Robert Brooks and Samuel Britton) on the Roll of Honour for the Macrory Meorial congregation.

I would be interested to make contact with you.

Regards

Nigel Henderson
