Hi

Recently found that a member of my family passed away at the Towers. I was looking to see if the Towers had a graveyard but I can't find information to say that they have.

Could someone guide me please on how to find where he is buried?

William Mason
Birth - 1817
Death - 1876

Thanks Keith. I looked at one of the links and it seems that he died in 1835. Not sure on the accuracy of this but thank you all for your help  :)

I see Thomas was born about 1785. Was he related to Francis Bettison, also of Swanwick? If so you may find something useful in the link below as the author claims to have placed Francis on a family tree;

Keith

His Father was Francis so thanks for the link  :)

Thanks for all the findings. They certainly seemed to have some fun back in the day!

That's him! I've got all the info regarding his arrival in Australia. Through google it seems that many stayed there instead of returning to England. I thought he may have been on a census but whether I'm looking in the wrong place but I just can't find any trace of him after his certificate of freedom!

Hi all, I've recently (yesterday!) found that there was a convict in our family tree. Thomas Bettison was sent to Australia in 1818 aboard the HMS Tottenham. Could anyone advise where I can look next to find out what happened to him once he had received his certificate of freedom? I've tried the 1841 census to see if he stayed in Australia but can't find him on there. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm now stuck!
