Hello John
Nice to see you on here.

I looked up the OPR of Angus Mackay and Mary Mitchell. He was a seaman of the parish of Dysart, son of Angus Mackay, so it looks like he died soon after. I think there may be records available on findmypast but i 'm not commiting myself to subscription until I have other stuff prepared to research as well.
Alexander Allan on the 1841 census at the next household to Agnes and Mary was a ships carpenter but I don't know if it was he whom she married not taken that further yet. He may have been too young.
I noticed lots more records available free to view on family search and freecen.
I will send you an email regards meeting up.

Hello Ninatoo

Was wondering about your Main and McCormack families
Are they connected to Denniston or Barrhead in the 1890s?
Also going back to Stranraer and Ireland in the 1800s

Thanks

Hi there
Mary Mitchell married Alexander Allan on 22 March 1845 in Dysart.
Incidently there was an Alexander Allan residing next door to Mary Mitchell in the 1841 census.
Alexander Allan (son) born 15 Feb 1846 Dysart
Janet Allan (dau) born 26 Aug 1846 Dysart

1851 Census Dysart
Agnes Pentland 56. Widow. Winds yarn
Mary Allan 30  Unmarried. Mill worker spinning flax
Mary McKay 10  grandau. Pauper at home
Alexander Allan 7. Grandson. Pauper at home
Jessie Allan 4. Grandau  Pauper at home

Address South Street

Agnes Pentland died in 1862 from asthma not certified aged 71 reported by granddaughter Mary McKay.
No address given other than Dysart
Parents of Agnes given as Michael Jackson and Janet Russell

I cannot find their marriage or a birth for Agnes Jackson on family search or scotlandspeople

I still have to look for them on the 1861 census

Looks like both Agnes and Mary Mitchell widowed twice in short space of time.

Hi I think Isaac Brooks father is John Brooks b1777c who married Janet Hutchison (from family search.org)
One of Isaac and Helen's children was Janet Hutchison Brooks b 20 Oct 1856 Falkirk.
John Brooks and Janet Hutchison had three other children that I can find
John b 1797
Helen b 1802 ? Not sure about this date
Hugh b 24 May1802 Again not sure if I read this correctly
There are so many Brooks in Dunbar and Dysart then Barrhead
Also look for David Hutchison married Elizabeth Amos in 1771 in Humbie, Eat Lothian
Alexander Amos married Margaret Gerdon(Jardon) who had two children
Elizabeth b 9 July 1743
Elizabeth b 2 Sept 1746 both Haddington

Family history on the net at two in the morning is just the best lol

Hello Dave
Came across this post when searching borthwick family and have sent you an email on tribal pages
I'm interested in James borthwick circa 1862 going to Antrim
Daughter Mary Anne married James Redmond circa 1862
She came back to Barrhead, Renfrewshire with one son Alexander around 1880s
Not sure if this family are on your tree
Thanks
Karen
